Essential Duties: This is semi-skilled electric utility service work in the field for the duration of the total deployment (30,000 meters throughout Provo) of the Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system. The individual appointed to this position will be required to perform the following duties: meter installations for electric AMI meters at residences and small businesses; enter data into field device (iPad or Personal Electronic Device); adhere to safety rules and policies; and work closely with Power and Customer Service personnel to perform duties. Employee will also be required to assist office staff as needed and perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements
: High school diploma or GED; and any combination of experience and training which would display an ability to perform the work.

License: A valid, lawful Driver’s License is required at time of appointment. Applicant may be disqualified on the basis of an unacceptable driving record as reflected by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.

Selection Factors: A working knowledge of electric meters and their function; be able to find addresses, use maps, and understand routes; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and maintain effective relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public. Skill in performing duties in a manner that demonstrates respect, integrity, courtesy, and kindness towards fellow workers, customers, and the general public.

Wage: $12.00 per hour for training; then $3.00 per meter after training. Payment will be made by direct deposit.

Hours: Approximately 20-25 hours per week, Monday through Thursday. Schedule is flexible depending on department need.

Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Selection may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.

Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires exposure to heavy traffic, adverse weather conditions, and other hazardous conditions. May also include exposure to high-stress situations or environments.
