Part-time Seasonal Positions

Number of Positions: Four (4) to Eight (8)

Essential Duties: These are scorekeeper positions for the Provo City Parks and Recreation Department. The individuals appointed to these positions will be required to keep score and operate the clock at the adult/youth softball games. Additionally, employees will assist office staff as needed and perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements: Knowledge of softball rules, penalties, and softball bookkeeping; reliability, excellent customer service skills, and the physical ability needed to perform the duties of the job. Please indicate sports experience in the certifications section of the application.

Selection Factors
: Knowledge of softball rules; ability to maintain control of teams, coaches, and players; ability to work well with people, and resolve conflict.

Hours: Flexible hours on weekday evenings between 4:30 PM and 10:30 PM and/or Saturdays between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

Wage: $7.50 - $8.50 per hour. Payment will be made by direct deposit.

Duration of Position: Approximately March 27, 2017 to mid-October, 2017.

Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Selection may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.

Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires that the individual have the ability to diffuse conflict in the heat of competition. Individuals will deal with the public in sometimes stressful circumstances, and work outside in a variety of weather conditions.

Pre-employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Individuals with unsatisfactory drug screening results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
