Part-time Seasonal Positions

Number of Positions: 4 - 8

Essential Duties: These are scorekeeper positions for the Provo City Parks and Recreation Department. The individuals appointed to these positions will be required to keep score at adult/youth softball games and will operate the score clock in an exciting and fast-paced environment. In addition, scorekeepers will assist office staff as needed and will perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:
Knowledge of softball rules, penalties, and softball bookkeeping which would demonstrate an ability to perform the job; and reliability and excellent customer service skills. Please indicate sports experience in the certifications section of the application.

Selection Factors: Knowledge of softball rules; ability to maintain control of teams, coaches, and players; ability to work well with people, and resolve conflict.

Hours: Flexible hours on weekday evenings between 6:00 PM and 10:30 PM and some Saturdays between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM (tournaments).

Wage: $7.50 - $8.50 per hour. Payment will be made by direct deposit.

Duration of Position:
Approximately April 1, 2018 to mid-October, 2018.

Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Selection may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.

Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires that the individual have the ability to diffuse conflict in the heat of competition. Individuals will deal with the public in sometimes stressful circumstances, and work outside in a variety of weather conditions.

Pre-employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Individuals with unsatisfactory drug screening results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
