Essential Duties: These positions are facility supervisors for the Provo Parks and Recreation Department. The appointed applicants will be required to maintain control of enthusiastic fans, players, and coaches; assist in facility set-up at Footprinter and Harmon Parks, assist officials and scorekeepers, and perform other related duties as required. Facility supervisors will be required to fill in as scorekeepers as needed and will be trained to do so.
Minimum Requirements: Organizational skills, punctuality, and sufficient knowledge of softball rules; which would demonstrate an ability to supervise a facility, officials, coaches, and spectators on the field. Excellent customer service skills are also required. Please indicate your sports experience in the certifications section of your application.
Selection Factors: Knowledge of applicable rules, job related experience, and public relations skills.
Hours: Weeknights 5:30 PM – 10:30 PM and occasional Saturday tournaments. Schedule may vary depending on departmental need.
Wage: $9.00 - $11.00 per hour as determined by the duties performed and level of knowledge, skill, and/or experience. Payment will be made by direct deposit.
Duration of Position: Approximately April 1, 2018 to mid-October 2018, depending on department need.
Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Selection may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires physical strength and agility to perform the work including: minor bending and lifting; the ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions; and working with the public in sometimes stressful situations. In addition, this position requires the ability to diffuse conflict in the heat of competition.
Pre employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Individuals with unsatisfactory drug screening results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
