Appeals Information
There are three types of Community Development appeals. A short explanation of each type of appeal is listed below.
Appeal to the Board of Adjustment
This means that you are appealing a determination or decision that has been made by a member of the Community Development Staff. This may be a Planning Commission decision, a Zone Verification determination of use, or a Rental Dwelling License determination of use. This type of appeal is heard by the Board of Adjustment at their regular monthly meeting. You will need to complete an application form and submit all items on the corresponding checklist. You can find these documents on our Forms page under the Planning Forms section.
Appeal a Notice of Violation
This means that you are appealing a Notice of Violation that was sent to you regarding alleged violations on property you own. This type of appeal is heard before an unbiased Hearing Examiner and is scheduled on an as-needed basis. You will need to submit an Administrative Hearing Application which can be found on our Forms page under the Zoning Forms section.
Appeal to the Board of Appeals
This means you are appealing a Building Inspection determination regarding a building permit application. This type of appeal is heard by the Board of Appeals. Meetings are scheduled on an as-needed basis. You will need to submit a written request to the Chief Building Official regarding your appeal.
