Current Hazard Level |
As a result of last year’s Springville Fire, areas of the South Provost neighborhood are threatened by a heightened risk of debris flow, similar to those that occurred last fall in Santaquin. In an effort to keep citizens informed, Provo has recorded an area condition message at 852-6328 and will update as conditions change. Provo has also established a hazard level system by which residents can gauge their relative risk and adjust their personal response plans. The hazard levels will be posted as a colored flag at Springcreek School and are as follows: |
No moderate to heavy rain expected.
Moderate to heavy rain likely.
RAWS alarm received, over 1/10 inch of rain in 15 minutes.
Ongoing moderate to heavy rain and/or saturated soil conditions, increasing risk.
Sustained moderate to heavy rain and/or highly saturated soil conditions, high risk of debris flow or debris flow observed.

In addition to the listed criteria, ‘warning’ or ‘watch’ information received from the National Weather Service will be evaluated for their impact upon the area, and will affect the Hazard Level accordingly. Residents are encouraged to inform themselves of current and expected weather conditions by monitoring their rain gages and checking condition on the web:
