- Saturation Patrols Planned for this New Year's Eve Weekend

Saturation Patrols Planned for This New Year's Eve Weekend
The Provo Police Department joins the Utah Office of Highway Safety in ridding our roadways of impaired drivers. We will be conducting Saturation Patrols during December 29th, 30th, and the 31st of 2011. Officers will be checking drivers for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment. If officers suspect that a driver has been drinking or is impaired, they will conduct a field sobriety test. Those who fail can expect to go to jail.
Saturation Patrols are effective in reducing the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol-related crashes as well as being a valuable means of heightening awareness of the dangers of impaired driving.
"Impaired drivers put innocent people in harm’s way. We will do everything we can to rid our roadways of those who chose to operate vehicles while under the influence. We urge citizens to report impaired drivers by calling 9-1-1," said Chief Rick Gregory, Provo City Police Chief. Chief Gregory stated, "If you chose to consume alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs, don't operate a vehicle. Think before you drive!"
