Beer License

To sell or serve beer at your place of business, you must obtain a Beer License from Provo City. To obtain a Beer License, an annual application, fee, and cash or corporate bond must be submitted. The annual fee for a beer license is in addition to any other fees or charges imposed by the Provo City Code.

Before a beer license is issued, the Provo City Police Department must complete a background check on all owners, managers and employees. For more information on the specific requirements for the issuance of a beer license, please read Chapter 6.14 of the Provo City ordinances. Businesses selling beer for off-premise consumption must comply with the Department of Public Safety’s E.A.S.Y. (Eliminate Alcohol Sales to Youth) training program.

Businesses selling beer for on-premise consumption, will also need a license from the State of Utah, Division of Alcohol Beverage Control (DABC). The DABC will require a signed local consent form from the City and a copy of your current Business License Certificate. You may contact the DABC at 1625 S 900 W, Salt Lake City, Utah, or phone (801) 977-6800 to receive the state packet and information.
