The Provo City Sanitation Division services residential garbage pickup for Provo citizens.

Office hours are Monday - Thursday 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.    telephone 801-852-6714 
Hours of garbage pickup are Monday - Thursday 6 a.m. - 3 p.m. - please set cans out the night before

Daily Garbage Collection Schedule

Look at this map to determine your weekly garbage pickup day. To find your garbage day, type your address in the search box at the top right of the screen, press enter, then click on "details" in the small black box. From there, go to the box on the left of the screen and scroll down to the bottom. Your garbage pickup day will be listed. See Sanitation Holiday Schedule for schedule variances.
 

Garbage Collection Fees

$11 per black can per month for weekly residential service.
 
$5 per green can per month for yard waste recycling service. This service is optional and runs the first Monday of March through the first Thursday of December. For price discounts see the Triple Play Program.
 
$5 per blue can per month for plastic/paper/cardboard recycling service. This service is also optional and is provided by Waste Management. For details see Current Recycling Information. For price discounts see the the Triple Play Program.

Important to know

Here are a few tips to ensure your garbage is picked up:
  • Cans need to be out on the side of the street by 6 a.m. (The night before is suggested.)
  • Everything we pick up needs to be in the can. The lid must close.
  • Make sure cans are away from parked vehicles, mailboxes, trees, etc.
  • $10 charge to have driver come back for cans not out. Extra garbage pickups available.
  • No garbage is allowed in green yard waste cans. $15 fine if garbage is found in green cans.

Spring Cleanup:  March 22 - May 1, 2010 - all containers will be at North Park, 430 W 500 N
Fall Cleanup:  *September 13 - October 23, 2010 - all containers will be at North Park, 430 W 500 N
Yard Waste Schedule:  March 1 - December 2, 2010

*NOTE: The Fall Cleanup dates have been changed since the yearly Holiday Schedule was sent out in November's utility bill.

Fluorescent Light Bulb Disposal

Did you know that the small, coiled fluorescent light bulbs that are rapidly replacing incandescent light bulbs should not be put in the landfill?

There are drop off locations for these fluorescent light bulbs at:

  • South Utah Valley Solid Waste District Transfer Station - 2450 West 450 South, Springville UT
  • The Home Depot stores Provo and Lindon
  • Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse store in Orem 
NOTE:  The Home Depot and Lowe's locations are NOT for long fluorescent tubes.
