Obituary for Phyllis Johnson Peterson

1915 - 2014

Phyllis Johnson Peterson, 98, of Orem died April 10, 2014 of complications incident to age. She was born on November 2, 1915 to August and Ruth Johnson in the family home on Geneva Road in what was then called Lakeview, Utah. She married Burton Peterson on November 10, 1945. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Phyllis lived for 66 years in the home she and Burt built, with the help of her father, on Geneva Road next door to the family home. They farmed, raised cows, horses, chickens and on occasion a few pigs.

After a long career in the banking industry Phyllis retired in 1977 from her position as a department head at Walker Bank. After retirement Phyllis and Burt traveled and spent winters in Arizona making many new and close friends.

Phyllis was an active member of the LDS Church and enjoyed her time with her many friends and members of the Lakeview Relief Society.

She is survived by her only daughter, Cindy Pickup, Provo; sisters, Nanalee Stratton, Provo and Alene Kofford, Colorado Springs, Colorado; and step daughter, Luetran Dewey, Tucson, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Burton Peterson; sister, Marjorie Snow; brother, Herbert Johnson; and many of her friends.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street, Provo. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Sunday, April 13, from 6-8:00 p.m.
