Carol Kuhni Huntington
1935 - 2018
Carol Kuhni Huntington, 83, passed from mortality early Thursday November 1, 2018, following a short but fierce battle with Leukemia. Carol was born in Provo on May 26, 1935 to John Hans and Nettie Winterton Kuhni, the youngest of eight children. She graduated from Provo High School and attended some college at BYU. She worked in her youth at her family’s rendering plant, where she learned accounting and finance. Carol was sealed to Fredrick Orral Huntington in the Manti Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 23, 1956. Together, Carol and Fred raised two children whom she loved with her whole self, and worked hard to build and own a number of successful motels in the Intermountain Region.
Carol shared a special relationship with young children, with whom she would spend hours playing and created bonds, spanning generations. She was fiercely dedicated to her family and those close to her and showed her love through generosity. Carol was well-known for her quick wit, strong opinions, and good fun. She held the special titles of Grammy and Auntie Carol which expanded beyond her family. She held a strong faith that wouldn’t be shaken by trials or judgement from others. Her energy was endless and could have only been quelled by a relentless rebellion of her own body.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband Fred, her parents, her brothers Ralph, Theron, and Glade Kuhni, sisters Marie Kuhni and Elaine Gray, and her grandson Christopher Wright. She is survived by her brothers Melvin and Arlin Kuhni, children Craig F. Huntington and Lori H. Wright, niece and best friend Kaylene Ashton, and three grandchildren: Justin (Nichole) Huntington, Lacie (Daniel) Hadlock, and Tayler Wright. She also leaves her great-grandchildren who loved her so dearly: Jaeden, Savanna, Joslynn, Genevieve, Greyson, and Everett.
Special appreciation is expressed to the staff of the Oncology Unit of the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City.
