Lela Lavern Hutchings Sidwell
1930 - 2019
Our mother, grandmother, (grandma great), sister and sweet friend Lela LaVern Hutchings Sidwell passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on January 24, 2019 in her Orem home, with her loving family by her side. Lavern was born May 10, 1930, in Springville, Utah to Lamar and Lela Hutchings. Growing up in a large family that includes 12 children.
She married her sweetheart Alfred Charles Sidwell in Provo where they lived and raised three children. She was a member of the LDS Church which she truly loved. She enjoyed people and taking in meals to whom ever was in need. In her younger days, she enjoyed cooking and keeping a beautiful yard. She was always happy to go on long rides admiring what each season had to offer. She appreciated beauty, flowers, and making friends, cherishing many close friendship over the years. As a family we have fond memories of many outings to recreational parks, hikes, mountains, fishing and camping trips. Although health struggles filled her life in recent years, we are comforted that these difficulties are behind her. LaVern, is survived by her children Ron (Pam) Sidwell and Linda (Steve) Strate, grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and her sister Dorene Hiatt. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Marvin Sidwell, seven sisters and four brothers.
Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all the care givers, neighbors, and family who lovely cared for our mother. A special thank you to Maple Creek Home Health and Hospice and their wonderful staff, who helped with her needs allowing her to stay in her home. To you Chris, we love you.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 29, 11:00 A.M. at the LDS Chapel building located at 575 South 400 West, Orem, Utah A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:45 prior to services.
