Carmella Rose Peterson Williams died February 22, 2019. She was born November 30, 1925 in Fillmore, Utah to Thomas William and Rose Bartholomew Peterson. Carmella had a wonderful childhood growing up on a farm. She graduated from Millard High School and attended Brigham Young University and the University of Utah. She met Earl Williams at BYU and they were married on December 4, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. Carmella enjoyed school and especially loved her art and English classes. She helped Earl build their home on Briar Avenue and later designed the home they built on the Canyon Road. She worked at the Utah Valley Hospital as a volunteer and was later employed in the medical records department for ten years. Carmella had an inquisitive mind and enjoyed learning new things. She was a lover of animals and nature. She was an accomplished artist and won awards locally. She loved to golf, loved working in her beautiful yard and was an avid reader. Carmella was a member of the Edgemont 7th Ward for sixty years and formed many loving relationships with ward members and neighbors. She had a kind and tender heart and a fun sense of humor. She was a beautiful and dignified lady who was also fiercely independent and not afraid to tackle any project. She loved her family and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, Victor (Helen) and Lawrence (Lula) Peterson and one sister, Lucile Barta (Bob). She is survived by her daughter, Linda Williams-Evans, her son Robert Williams, two grandchildren, Anna Oakes (Jeff) and Timothy Evans and one great-grandchild, Oliver Oaks.
The family would like to thank the staff at Jamestown Assisted Living and the staff of Encompass Health for their care and compassion for Carmella.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 4, 2019 at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. A viewing will be held from 1-1:50 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.bergmortuary.com.
In lieu of flowers, Carmella asked that donations be made to the Utah Humane Society.
