Valeria "Valery" Marie Peters Morton
1935 - 2017
Valery Marie Peters Morton passed away peacefully in Orem, Utah on November 28, 2017 after battling COPD for several years.
Valery was born in St Paul Minnesota, on December 17, 1935 to Lionel Arthur Peters and Regina Gladys Harrer. Being the youngest of eight children, she was always the center of attention. Valeria was her given name, but she always went by Valery or Val.
Valery attended St Agnes Elementary School, and graduated in 1953, from Washington High School in St Paul, where she participated in the Girls Athletic Association, and the Camera Club. She pursued a career as a psychiatric nursing assistant. Val was also known by her family, friends and business associates, for her frugality and good business sense. She was an avid reader and researcher, and developed a keen knowledge on many subjects. She especially loved black licorice, mixed nuts, and See’s candy which she seemed to always have on hand to offer her visitors.
She moved to Southern California and in 1963, met John Daly Morton. They were married on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1963, in Orange County California. Thanksgiving Day each year, has been a special time of celebration for this couple. To their union came two children, Vincent Lynn Morton, and Julia Marie Morton (Burrows). John and Valery resided most of their married lives in Corona del Mar and Laguna Niguel, California.
Valery was devoted to God and to her Catholic religious faith. She enjoyed blessing many lives with her random acts of charity and generous donations to those in need throughout her life.
Valery is survived by her husband John Morton, son Vincent Morton, daughter Julia Burrows, her sister Irene Rodon, and her brother Jerome Peters. She was preceded in death by Jeanie Marie Peters, Arthur Joseph Peters, Roman Adrian Peters, Fredrick Joseph Peters and Eugene Joseph Peters.
Those who knew and loved Val, will miss this “feisty little rascal” lady. Her wit and humor and her contagious smile, were with her until the end.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 11, 2017
