Following a short illness, Richard "Dick" Smoot Taylor passed away peacefully on March 17, 2019. Dick was born an only child on November 6, 1945 to Walter and Anna Taylor, in Orem, Utah where he was raised and attended school. After high school and attending BYU, Dick took a job working for Union Pacific railroad where he developed a lifelong love of trains--large and small. His passion for model trains was a lifelong pursuit. His love of big vehicles led him to a career driving trucks for multiple companies including Geneva from which he retired in 2009. Dick was fond of model train and antique cars shows and was well known for his immaculate red 1956 Chevy which won multiple prizes at local car shows. His car was a daily driver and few things brought him more joy than driving it with his loving wife of more than 20 years Heidi, by his side and the Eagles playing in the background. Dick also leaves behind some loyal friends (you know who you are) who were by his side every day of his life until his passing. Dick was fiercely loyal to his small band of friends and his adopted family through marriage and we will miss him dearly.
