Stephany Susan Ricci
1962 - 2019
Stephany Susan Ricci, 56, passed away April 4, 2019, surrounded by family at her parents’ home in Springville, Utah due to complications from prior health afflictions. Stephany was born in Washington, D.C. on May 29, 1962, the first child of Dr. Cecil and Joyce Jacobson.
Stephany was a lifelong, faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a full-time mission in the Osorno, Chile Mission.
Upon graduating from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education, Stephany began her teaching career at Oakridge School in Provo. Stephany loved these special children of our Heavenly Father, and she taught others to love them as well. When Oakridge closed, Stephany had the opportunity to teach at other schools within the district: Farrer Middle School, Provost Elementary, Provo Peaks Elementary and finally, Oak Springs at the Utah State Hospital. Stephany was a mentor teacher to many throughout her 27 years of teaching in the Provo City School District.
Stephany was best known for her incredible singing voice. She started taking singing lessons at the age of 15 and trained with the best, and continued her training while attending BYU. She sang with Mormon Youth Choir and Symphony, as well as with the Mapleton Chorale. She used her talent extensively in many church callings she accepted, especially as the Primary Chorister.
Stephany met and married Albert Ricci, her eternal companion and friend on June 3, 1989, in the Washington D.C. Temple. They were kindred spirits from the start. Together they were blessed with four handsome sons, Nicholas, Samuel, Anthony, and Jacob. They are a beautiful eternal family with deep and abiding faith.
Stephany is survived by her husband, Albert, and four sons, Nicholas (his wife, Preslee), Samuel, Anthony, and Jacob, her parents, Dr. Cecil and Joyce Jacobson, her six siblings CB, Tom, Pam, Chuck, Jon and Irene.
Stephany endured her challenges and ordeals with dignity and grace. Her passing was unexpected, but of natural causes of mortality. While we are grateful that we know one day we will be reunited with our Stephany, for now, our family is at a loss of words, a loss of joy, and a loss of a delightful spirit. All who knew her love, admire and adore her cherished soul.
