Lois Bullock Brown

Lois Bullock Brown

May 31, 1930 - June 14, 2019

Our beloved Lois Bullock Brown passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 14, 2019. Lois endured the hardships of age and leukemia courageously and graciously. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

Lois was born the 4th of 5 children to Ella Lavern Chapman and Roy K. Bullock on May 31, 1930. She grew up poor and happy on the Bullock family farm in Provo, Utah. Her earliest memory from age three was riding the horse-drawn wagon and throwing off tomato boxes to the farm workers. Lois attended Maeser Elementary, Farrer Junior High, and Provo High. She was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in July 1938, and graduated from Seminary her junior year. Lois learned to work hard and be self-reliant, becoming an accomplished homemaker and seamstress. She participated in the Pep Club and loved to dance and make clothing—including her first-ever brand new winter coat.

Lois married Stanley Gerald Brown at the start of her senior year on September 3, 1947. Nine months after graduation, Lois gave birth to their first of four children. She was happy and content as a mother. Her children, Kate, Edward, Glen, and Sam, remained the “light of her life.” Throughout their marriage, Lois and Stan demonstrated true companionship and devotion to one another, particularly through their hardships losing both Kate and Sam. They enjoyed dancing, Friday night cards with friends, camping, and fishing. They were later sealed in the Provo Temple.

Lois enjoyed quilting, reading, shopping, and visiting with family. She worked as a secretary at the Provo City Fire Department and later retired as a receptionist from Provo’s Herald newspaper on April 1, 1990. Her greatest strengths were accepting people for who they were and loving them fiercely.

Lois is survived by her sons Edward (Brenda), Provo, UT and Glen (Teri), Panguitch, UT; daughter-in-law Nikki Lewis (Sterling), Orem, UT; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren (plus one on the way!) and her brother Kay Bullock (Jane), Provo, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Stanley G. Brown, son Sam R Brown, daughter Kate Brown, and siblings Gene Bullock, Doris Wetzel, and Joe Bullock.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the Bonneville 3rd Ward Chapel, 715 S. Utah Ave., Provo, Utah. Friends may visit with the family at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 E. Center Street, Monday, June 17 from 6-8:00 p.m. and at the church Tuesday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.bergmortuary.com.
