Joyce Blackett Giles

 1930 - 2019

Joyce Blackett Giles was born March 16, 1930, in Springville, Utah to Robert Earl Blackett and Mary Edna Knudsen Blackett the sixth of eight children.

Joyce passed away December 7, 2019, in Springville, Utah. Joyce grew up in Springville and graduated from Springville High School where she was Art City Queen her senior year. She married Charles “Bert” Giles in Provo, Utah October 1, 1948 while Bert was home on leave from the Navy.

They were blessed with seven children: Barbara (Galen) Allred, Kanarraville, Utah; Charles Bert Giles Jr. “Chuck”, Debbie (Stan) Curtis, Springville, Utah; Alton “Corey” Giles, Springville, Utah; Bart Earl (Patti) Giles, Ceresco, Michigan; Mary (Robert) Hamilton, Spanish Fork, Utah; and Carrie (John) Allsop, Manti, Utah.

Joyce enjoyed quilting, crocheting, making candy, especially peanut brittle, and spending time with family at the Giles Cabin in Provo Canyon.

Joyce is survived by all of her children, 19 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, one brother, John (Ann) Blackett, and one sister-in- law Loretta Blackett. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Dean, Bud, Jim, Fern, Shirley, and Carol, and daughter-in-law, Tena Giles.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 S. State Street, Provo, Utah. Condolences may be expressed at www.bergmortuary.com.
