Fire Rebuild/Repair

Replacing or repairing buildings that have been destroyed by a fire always requires a building permit. The Fire Department and Building Division will be involved in determining the extent of repair or replacement. An inspection by the Building Division will determine if power can be restored to the structure, and if an engineer will be needed to design structural fixes. Building permit costs vary depending on the extent of the damage. Start the building permit process by reviewing and meeting the requirements of the Residential Plan Requirements Checklist. Apply for a Building Permit and submit any required plans online. All plans must be drawn to scale and submitted in PDF format. Photos can be submitted with the plans to aid in describing the type of work being done. For questions about getting a building permit for your fire rebuild, please call the Building Division at (801) 852-6450.
