Fences don't normally require building permits but they do need to meet certain setback and height restrictions, call (801) 852-6400 and talk to a Zoning Officer for more information. Retaining walls less than four feet in height, including the 30" footing depth, do not require a building permit.

Any type of demolition requires a demolition permit. The first step in getting this permit is to contact the Utah Division of Air Quality at (801) 536-4000 for an asbestos report. The report must be received before a permit can be issued by the Community Development Department. A site plan must be submitted for residential demolition.

Accessory buildings fewer than 200 sq. feet do not require a building permit; however, there are setback requirements and height requirements for the zone where the property is located. Most residential zones allow sheds and other accessory buildings to be built three feet inside a property line only if the structure is more than six feet away from the main dwelling, and not more than twelve feet high.
